I recommend this everyone. That's been only my 2nd time as an adventure with "hosteling" because I was afraid , untrustful etc. but now I realize that there can be hostels on a very very good level and not overexpensive.

Tidy but EXTREMELY tight. Absolutely clean and well equipped but there is less than a bed's width between bunk beds, you can not sit straight on the bed and the lockers are tiny too. Plus there is NO recycling bin in the entire house. A well-engineered profit-maximalizing venture rather than a hospitality establishment. The premium over other hostels is not justified.

Correct but not extra. Expensive for room with 8 bed. Rooms don’t lock and to enter the hostel you have to wait for the receptionist to be there (where they usually are but not always).

Illegal Refugees from South America and Africa and local Spanish homeless people and unsuspecting tourists are being mixed in the same dormitories

Las Palmas and Gran Canaria have become really bad and La Fabrica Urban Hostel is an example of the shaddy things that are now happening and of which many tourist are not even aware, mostly because they do not stay long enough to find out what they are not supposed to know. This hostel has no hostel atmosphere. It is unsafe, dirty, too loud and overpriced. It is sgtressful being around the illegal refugees. One refugee family from Cuba had the childrens'programme on all day and night to mind their hyperactive child. Spanish speaking people are always better treated than the other nationalities. One highlight of my stay wasto observe the refugee from Marocco called Nadia coming out of toilet and not washing her hands. Another was meeting a refugee from Sri Lanka. And, top, was when my female only dormitory was changed into a mixed dormitory for a 14 people Spanish group. Men and women had free sex in the dormitory bed. These Spaniards were rude, threatened to hit me and told me," you will not get back into the room, you will not come back". I had to leave my bed at 5:00am as a disabled person and sit for over 12 hours on a chair in the kitchen with no access to mey bed and only limited access to my belongings.. The group refused to move into another dormitory although it had become free. The police found out that this fake hostel does not even provide the mandatory complaints form to its customers. I complained to the hostel manager, a guy called Orlando, after the receptionist had tried to force me out of my bed and harassed me. I sent him 4 emails and complained, with no success. La Fabrica Hostel shows what Gran Canaria has become: an unfriendly island .I was lucky that I did not die when they threw me out onto the street because I had called the police, one night before New Year when the cheapest hotel cost 650 Euros for 3 days. My overall experience at La Fabrica Hostel was bad and unpleasant. This includes a homeless woman who slept in my dormitory and who was actually an operated man and who showed me her breasts. A naked tourist sitting in the hall at 6:00am and a soldier yelling at night and waking everyone up. The kitchen is so dirty that I was not happy to use it. There is not hot water in the kitchen and the water that comes out looks strange, like sea water. Well, I had booked my bed only on the condition: this bed in this room. It was something to see all my possessions thrown out on the street in front of La Fabrica.
