  I felt right at home in Las Palmas Old Town. Large, quirky, full of history and beautiful textures. Very interesting panorama from the rooftop of St. Anna Cathedral. Interesting arts museum in the walls of the converted 18th century hospital. And you simply must be here on a Thursday night weekly tapas festival, when everybody is mingling in Vegueta bars tasting local finger food and sipping beers and wines, with everything going for 1-2€, be it a tapas or a small glass of Rioja!

  Vegueta is beautiful. A cozy little peace of the city filled with remarkable places like Santa Ana Cathedral or Casa Colón as well as a lot of cafes and cute little houses and alleys. We spent a couple of hours exploring the area, but I guess most people will think it's relatively boring after a while.

  Be careful though: Regular parking is nearly impossible for tourists, but don't go to the parking spot that costs 2€/hour - there's another one for 10c/hour nearby!

  This is where the town of Las Palmas was first settled, you can still see through one of its pavement streets 2 palm trees near the the first official house built in Las Palmas representing the name of the city. Nice place to walk and visit its restaurants, pubs (in some of them you can maybe appreciate some black and white photos of Las Palmas with the river and forest of palm trees), the Santa Ana Cathedral, Santo Domingo's church, the lovers fountain, theatres, Christopher Columbus house, the mornings fruit market and the Sunday morning flew market accompanied with a live typical Canarian folkloric concert. It is a very small area but full of life!! Try to spot the constructions build in black stone, those where done with real volcano dried lava centuries ago!!!

  Very atmospheric part of the old town. Favorito lugar para skateborders.

  Pretty square but we missed all the action, also no restaurants open at all.
