  Knowing I had to get a move on because of my afternoon gig, I took my shopping list (marked-up by the Canarias Hipermusic assistant) over to the sales counter to buy the guitar. Can you imagine how I reacted when I was told that the guitar would be Euro 300 more that I had been quoted! Sensing my frustration (!), the assistant quickly started tapping his keyboard and, to his obvious personal relief, told me that he had made a mistake and had been typing-in the wrong details... He then typed-in the correct (!*!*) details and told me that the guitar would be... Euro 150 more than I had been quoted and seemed to think that I would be happy with this! I showed him the handwritten quote but was told that the price I had been given was a mistake and that they could not sell the guitar at that price! To cut a long story short, I ended up speaking to the manager but was once again told that the price I had been given was a mistake. However, they did offer to sell the guitar to me for an additional Euro 50! Oh, and I was given a courtesy 'Lo siento' (I am sorry!).

  I made my way back home by taxi (1/2 hour) and coach (1 hour) but had already decided that the Guild was a must-have! So much so, I phoned Hipermusic when I arrived home to tell them that I was definitely interested in the X 175 and could they confirm that the price would still be good for Monday. They assured me that it would be. Needless to say, I couldn't stop thinking about that Guild over the weekend and checked out every review and Youtube clip I could find!

  Monday came around and, as luck would have it, I landed a last-minute gig for Monday afternoon (!).This meant that I had to get to and from Las Palmas pretty sharp-ish in the morning (this was not going to be easy after a late gig the night before!). A coach ride (1 hour) and a taxi ride (1/2 hour) later and I am sat in the Hipermusic showroom giving the guitar I had been lusting over all weekend a final check-over; this one was going to be a keeper!

  Unfortunately, as far as I am concerned, this is another nail in the coffin for the traditional music shop/ showroom for me and for the rest of the kit on my shopping list, I have subsequently placed an international order with Thomann (cash on delivery to Spain, good returns policy etc.) .

  I am a guitar-vocalist with a Contract working winter seasons in Gran Canaria. Pro music shops are hard to come by over here so when I came across Canarias Hipermusic I was very surprised. I was looking to by a second guitar (semi-acoustics are my thing) and a second, portable sound system. I saw they were having a Black Friday weekend so travelled up to Las Palmas on the Friday by coach (1 hour) and from the city centre to the warehouse by taxi (1/2 hour). I had a shopping list of about 10 items and asked them to give me their best prices which they very kindly did and wrote down for me. Whilst in the shop, I spotted a very nice black Guild X 175 which was not on their website but immediately went to the top of my list! I said that I would go away and decide exactly what I wanted and was told that the prices would be good 'til Monday.
